You Heal We Heal

Hey Everyone!

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this. The past year has had me very busy doing various shows in LA again at Knott’s Berry Farm, becoming a full-time Automation Technician at LOVE, and a new production I’ve been designing lights for a show called “You Heal We Heal.”

Oliver!

Hey everyone!

It has been a while since I have posted any of my recent works. In the past year I have been working as a carpenter at The Beatles LOVE with Cirque du Soleil. I have also been doing a little freelance work with Mack Lighting as an ALD at Knott’s Berry Farm working on shows like “Psycho Circus 2″ and “It’s Christmas, Snoopy.” My current project is serving as TD for BNTA’s Oliver scheduled to open in mid July. This is easily the largest production I have ever had to build on my own. I have run into new challenges I never experienced at Elon such as building scenery that can easily be moved in a truck to the theatre and reassembled on site, calculating moving into my budget and other issues that have risen over the past few months.  I think I am in good shape right now but there is still a lot of work ahead.  I’ll keep you all posted as to how it turns out.

it is always the false ones that seem the most real

This was a piece choreographed by Andrea Work that was first performed in the 2011 Senior Dance Thesis Concert in February and also represented Elon University in ACDFA’s 2011 Mid-Atlantic Conference hosted at Elon. Salvador Dali’s paintings served as the inspiration for the choreography, music and lighting.  This piece still stands as one of my favorite designs for its overall aesthetic and collaborative process.

Triple Checkers!!!

Thanks you so much to everyone who voted on my Triple Checkers gobo pattern. I won in the metal category!!! I couldnt have done it without your votes and I greatly appreciate it.  It will be featured in Apollo’s gobo material for 2 years and if it sells well it will stay in said material. After that it will always be online. A certain amount of each one purchased will go to a charity.  I honestly cannot believe that it actually won. Thanks so much everyone!!!!!!

End Game

End Game was one of the most difficult things I have ever worked on with over 70 cues, 3 custom designed gobos that I designed and had specially made for this piece. The collaboration on this piece between the choreographer, costume, lighting and projections designers and even the dancers was incredibly rewarding when we got to see the piece up and running.

End Game Excerpt

Here is a link to an excerpt from a piece I recently designed choreographed by Lauren Kearns. It was one of the hardest pieces I have ever worked on with 70 cues, 3 custom designed gobos and other exciting spectacles, which I wont ruin.  With all of the hard work and collaboration involved, it was easily one of the most rewarding pieces I have ever worked on. It can be found at her company’s website: kearns dance project
